Once again, Colin: Thank you very much! That's very useful for trying to understand the FMT and in case any problems occur. I sent a message to the seller with the price I like to pay for it and wait for his reply. When the Claymore FMT arrives I'll report here about my impressions.
It arrived today and produced some questions. I connected it to that warped amp I bought from Richard and was surprised how much I had to tune up the volume pot when listening to FM. This lead to one of the boards of the amp smoking (as long as I can see now, it's only two resistors, so I hope I can fix that). Then I connected it to the AP70 and it's the same effect (have to crank up the volume a lot) but the amp doesn't run hot. The next thing is, if I connect a source, for example a CDP, switch off the Claymore and let the CDP still run, there is a distorted sound coming out of the speakers and it doesn't matter which input is chosen at the selector. Is this both normal behaviour or should I complain, which wouldn't be a problem, because the seller is a HIFI dealer who gives warranty? On the other side I receive radio stations I had problems with before and it has a very good sound.
Thank you very much for this offer, but don't you think I should give the seller the chance to repair it especially as he announced it to be in proper condition and claimed it to have been checked? That would be my first step, having the additional costs for repair and shipping in mind, too.
after three months of going on this is the end of the story. First after sending the FMT back to the seller I heard nothing from him for five weeks. After asking, if he had fixed it, he told me that there is no problem to be seen for him. I wrote him again about the faulty behavior of it. The said he'd give it to a specialist (before he claimed himself to be one!) to check it. Another four weeks of waiting for a response. I mailed him again and he said the specialist didn't find the error. I told him that I'd take it for half the price and then send it to you for checking. He refused that and gave me the options of getting my money back or taking the FMT as is. So I got the money back. Thank you a lot again for your support.
